When I moved into my home 10 years ago, I knew right away that renovating the bathroom was going to be one of the first things on my to-do list. The original design, black and white florals and toile, was definitely not my style. I always loved the simplicity of rustic modern style and wanted to design my bathroom to not only be rustic and modern but sophisticated, timeless and classic all at the same time. Looking back at the original photo, you can see that this makeover is DRAMATIC.
We were on a strict budget, as most homeowners are after purchasing a home, so I opted to select and purchase all items online and at Home Depot. The neutral white wall color, Benjamin Moore Navajo White, sets the tone of the room and is the perfect backdrop for bringing in warmer woods and tiles. The addition of the glass and stone mosaic tiles provides a hint of color while textural elements such as the reclaimed wood wall art and oil rubbed bronze light fixtures are the perfect finishing touches. Mixing light and dark materials helps to balance the overall look of the space and adds a nice contrast to the neutral walls. Finally, a simple white floral arrangement and a set of fresh towels add softness to the space and completes the look. The result? By combining rustic wood elements with a classic neutral color palette, I created the perfect rustic chic family bathroom with timeless appeal.
