The kitchen is the heart of the home and a modern farmhouse kitchen is one of my favorite styles. I love the mix of creamy white cabinets and natural woods and textures. This style exudes a warm and comforting feeling that says…”Come in and stay for a while”. Here’s a look at some of my favorite modern farmhouse kitchen spaces along with a round up of my top picks for linen and wood counter stools that work perfectly with this style.

New York City is one of my favorite places in the world. I consider myself lucky to have had the experience of going to school at the New York School of Interior Design, as well as living and working in this big city for 12 years. I think it’s true what they say…”if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere”. There are so many things to do, places to see and eat, and people to visit. Although I am currently living in the suburbs of Long Island, this beautiful city is just a train ride away. I travel to New York City as often as possible and I am excited to start a new series “NYC” on the blog where I will share some of my favorite places in the big apple. Lately, I have been receiving a lot of questions about my living room coffee table. When I first started designing this space I knew exactly what I was looking for…a table that was rectangular in shape, a dark wood top to add natural contrast to my neutral space and a contemporary look with rustic elements. This beautiful home belongs to my good friend, Kara Mendelsohn, founder of Cooper & Ella, a contemporary fashion brand for the modern woman, and her husband, Adam Mendelsohn, head of eyewear design at Warby Parker, an american brand of prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. When Kara and Adam contacted me to help them design their home, I was beyond thrilled! Kara and I had talked about her renovations for a long time so when she finally decided to move forward, I was ready for the challenge! [Read more…]
I was recently asked by Reinhard Developments, a design and development company in British Colombia specializing in the construction of high-end residential properties, to collaborate with them and write a blog post on one of the most common questions asked about interior design…

When I moved into my home 10 years ago, I knew right away that renovating the bathroom was going to be one of the first things on my to-do list. The original design, black and white florals and toile, was definitely not my style. I always loved the simplicity of rustic modern style and wanted to design my bathroom to not only be rustic and modern but sophisticated, timeless and classic all at the same time. Looking back at the original photo, you can see that this makeover is DRAMATIC. [Read more…]
